Oxford Tidal Energy Workshop
Dates: 29th and 30th March 2012
Venue: Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford (LR2, Thom Building)
We are pleased to announce a workshop on tidal-stream energy to be held in Oxford on the 29th and 30th of March 2012. The workshop is aimed at academics, researchers and postgraduate research students working on fluid related aspects of tidal-stream power generation. The topics to be discussed shall include, but will not be restricted to:
- Device-scale problems (hydrodynamics, design, fluid-structure interaction etc.)
- Array-scale problems (turbine-turbine interaction etc.)
- Basin-scale problems
- Novel experimental, computational and theoretical approaches for tidal energy research
Participants are asked to submit a short (1 to 2 pages) abstract in the format of the template provided by the organisers. Abstracts will be used for light reviewing and the development of themed sessions. We anticipate that all participants will be timetabled to make oral presentations; however depending on the number of abstracts submitted we may also run poster sessions. Participants may also request a poster in place of an oral presentation.
Final Programme and Abstracts:
A compiled PDF file of 20 final abstracts is available here (45 pages, 7.4 MB).
Important Dates:
Registration deadline: 9th March 2012 ** closed **
Abstract submission deadline: 9th March 2012 ** closed **
Sponsor:
The workshop is sponsored by the Oxford Martin School and we are delighted that there will be no registration fee for any participants. We will be able to cover costs for university accommodation (up to 1 night) for postgraduate students as well as provide a workshop banquet for all participants on the evening of the 29th March.
